Hai Yen Travel (2006)

The Hai Yen Travel budget travel agency was run by my friend, Quan, who taught me a lot about Vietnamese culture and the Vietnamese way of thinking. He asked me to create a logo for his travel agency so I decided to use the one from my SaigonNezumi.com blog at the time. Quan passed away after a boating accident in Can Tho back in 2009. We had actually stopped speaking for 3 years but the death had an impact on me. Seeing this picture reminded me of Quan’s help during my first couple years in Vietnam.  Hai Yen Travel (2006) |

Oh the trash
Well at least it is not on the street. Trash is everywhere but luckily it is all picked up by morning. One big cause of street flooding in Saigon is due to residents clogging the drains with trash.

Can’t forget the bricks, they are the main materials in building houses. Bricks are literally laid everywhere. No security around to protect them from thieves.
